I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, descended into hell, on the third day rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Here one should conduct a daily examination of conscience. Recall the entire past day and strive to evaluate your actions. How did I spend this day? Did I conscientiously fulfill all my duties? Did I sin by deed, word, or thought against God or my neighbor? Did I miss opportunities to do good? Did I patiently bear the trials sent to me? Was I fully obedient to God’s will? What evil inclinations have I been most prone to lately? How can I rid myself of the sins I repeat day after day?

After such an examination of conscience, one should ask God for forgiveness of sins and thank Him for the opportunities given this day to do good, as well as for His gracious help in good deeds.
