Prayers

By making the sign of the cross, we profess our faith in the Most Holy Trinity and the mystery of human salvation through the death of Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross. In doing so, the faithful receive a partial indulgence.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, descended into hell, on the third day rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Amen.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages: God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father, through whom all things were made.

Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, suffered and was buried, rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who spoke through the prophets.

And in one holy Universal and Apostolic Church.

I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

Rising from sleep, I turn to Thee, Master, God, my Savior.
I thank Thee for granting me to see the light of this day.
Bless me and help me at all times and in all my deeds.
Illumine the darkness of my soul with the light of Thy grace and teach me to do Thy will all the days of my life. Amen.

Lord, this day is now ending, and before the rest of night, I wish to lift my soul to Thee.

This day I began in Thy name, and in Thy name I wish to end it.

I thank Thee for all the blessings with which Thou hast enriched my soul and body today.

Here one should conduct a daily examination of conscience. Recall the entire past day and strive to evaluate your actions. How did I spend this day? Did I conscientiously fulfill all my duties? Did I sin by deed, word, or thought against God or my neighbor? Did I miss opportunities to do good? Did I patiently bear the trials sent to me? Was I fully obedient to God’s will? What evil inclinations have I been most prone to lately? How can I rid myself of the sins I repeat day after day?

After such an examination of conscience, one should ask God for forgiveness of sins and thank Him for the opportunities given this day to do good, as well as for His gracious help in good deeds.

Let us pray: Visit, O Father, our home and drive far from us all the snares of the evil spirit; may Thy holy angels come and keep us in peace, and may Thy blessing be ever upon us. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Almighty eternal God, with all my heart I thank Thee for all the benefits and graces of this day, for all sorrows and joys, for achievements and failures.

Accept all for the sake of Thy great glory.

Accept all my deeds pleasing to Thee, my prayers, silent sighs, and patiently borne sufferings.

Accept my respectful attitude toward Thy image in every person, my care to always follow Thy commandments.

Accept my sleep, my watchfulness, and every moment of the coming night. Amen.

Thee, Mary, our Advocate and Helper, you, heavenly angels, my guardian angel, and all the saints in heaven, I thank with all my heart for your care and help.

Ask the Lord to bless me and my loved ones this night. Amen.

O God, another day of my life has passed.
Every moment I lived was a gift from Thee: whether I worked or rested, spoke with others or was alone with myself, rejoiced or sorrowed—all was Thy gift.
I thank Thee for all that I came to know and experience today.
Thou alone knowest whether I managed to fulfill Thy will.
Forgive me all that I overlooked, forgot, and all that was not according to Thy will.
Have mercy on me, a sinner.
Grant that the rest of this night may increase my strength, so I may live tomorrow better.
Watch over all who sleep and those who labor this night.
I entrust my future and that of my loved ones to Thy merciful care, our God and Father. Amen.
