Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

  1. Liturgical Calendar

    • February 18 — Ash Wednesday. On this day, the faithful are obliged to observe strict fast. This consists of complete abstinence from meat and limiting meals to three times, of which one may be a full meal and the other two consist of light snacks. All the faithful from the age of 14 are obliged to abstain from meat, and all adults up to the age of 60 are obliged to observe strict fast. On all Fridays of Lent, abstinence from meat is obligatory for all. On this day, Mass with the rite of imposition of ashes on the head as a sign of repentance will take place at 19:00 in Russian and English.
    • Lent begins — a time of forty-day preparation for celebrating the Paschal Mystery of the Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to the precepts of the Church, every Catholic is obliged at least once a year — during the Easter season (that is, during Lent and Easter Time) — to receive the Sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist. Please remember in your prayers the catechumens preparing for the Sacraments of Christian Initiation and those preparing to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church.
    • Every Friday of Lent there will be celebrated Holy Mass in English at 19:00 in the Friary chapel and after Mass the Stations of the Cross will be prayed in the church.
    • Our parish offers two ways to participate in Lenten Charity: you can use the envelopes at the entrance to make a cash donation for those in need, or you can bring non-perishable food items and place them in the box near the altar. All donations will be given to those in need through our religious sisters.
